My name is Candy. I am a 3-year-old, 7-pound female Maltese mix. I came into rescue very thin and in need of some groceries. After getting me checked out by the vet and doing bloodwork, it was decided that I wasn’t sick, just starving! My foster mom has been feeding me lots of good food and I’m gaining weight like I should now. Although I’m cute as a button, I do have some quirky traits about me that foster mom says everyone should know about. I can be a bit barky when people are moving around the house. I’m getting better but still bark even with a toy in my mouth! So an apartment would not be a good idea for me. I do love other dogs and will play with any that are willing. I have seen cats and just ignore them but I’m sure if one would play with me I would be up for that!

I’m still working on house training but am getting better every day as long as you get me outside. I walk pretty well on a leash but would love to have a fenced yard to explore. I can be a shy girl in new situations but warm up quickly. Since I bark at random times, it’s best if there are no small children in the house since they always seem to be on the move and I’m sure the parents would get tired of the barking. I ride in the car well and sleep in a crate all night without a peep. My adoption fee is $175.
