Chester's needs:
- Adult home
- Can be an only dog or with other dogs of similar or smaller size

Hi, my name is Chester. I’m a pretty laid back 11-year-old Jack Russell mix and I weigh 19.5 pounds. My foster folks say that I will make someone a wonderful companion because I want to be wherever you are. I am not much for cuddling but I do like attention! I am just an older calm sort of guy who likes his bed and nosing around outside. I live with other dogs that are my size or smaller in my foster home and I get along well with them but I can also be your one and only. I would be best in an adult home and I bond much easier with women. I would be fine if there are men in my forever home.

I got a lot of good vet care when I came to SBRET. I had a dental and lost several teeth which did not affect my ability to eat my kibble. I also had several small skin masses removed from my rear end. All were benign so that should no longer be an issue. The vet said I have a grade 3 heart murmur for which I take medication twice a day (Pimobendan). I also have a slightly enlarged heart. If you are looking for a hiking or running buddy, I am not your guy. But if you are looking for walking buddy for short walks around the neighborhood, I can do that! I don't need to have a fenced yard because I do well on a leash and SBRET will provide a harness that fits me perfectly :).

I am mostly potty trained. If I have an inside accident it will be when I go into a new space and I might feel like I need to mark but that will get better as soon as I am settled. I am also learning the “wait” command so I don’t go squirting out an open door. I am a pretty smart guy and picking up all kinds of new things. I promise to try hard to adjust really well to a new forever home if you give me a chance!

I’ve been neutered and microchipped. I am up to date on all vaccines and on monthly heartworm/flea prevention. My adoption fee is $100.
