Meet Gillie! Gillie is an 11-year-old, 9-pound Maltese girl looking for a quiet home. She is a bit shy and fearful and has taken awhile to adjust to a new environment. She is as sweet as can be and just needs someone to love her and give her time to get comfortable! She has no teeth but is able to eat dry kibble well. Her foster mom always mixes a bit of canned food and water into the food to make it a bit easier for her to eat and more appetizing.
She is doing well with her housetraining – she will use a pee pad while in a gated area when you are not home and will also potty outside. Her foster family takes her outside every few hours and anytime she wakes from a nap. So continued reinforcement and patience in her forever home will be needed. Gillie is starting to seek affection and loves being combed and brushed! She does well on a leash and enjoys walks, although she startles in response to loud noises or being approached quickly or from behind. She is not aggressive with children but because of her age and the fact that she is still so fearful, an adult home or one with children over 12 years old will be best. She does ok with other gentle dogs and cats, but as long as she has lots of human companionship she does not require another dog in her forever home.
Gillie is up to date on her shots, is microchipped and is on heartworm and flea protection. Her adoption fee is $100.
