Update from your bestie, Kyle. You may have read about me before or this may be our first introduction, but my foster mom wants you to know that I'm living a real Ugly Duckling fairytale. I am a 7-year-old male Chihuahua weighing in at about 9 pounds. I found myself at an area shelter and luckily for me I ended up with SBRET. I was missing lots of hair due to fleas and didn't make a great first impression, but now my fur is growing back sparkling white with a few tan highlights. My mom believes that my Ugly Duckling days are in the past, and I'm almost a beautiful swan in mind and body (well, my fur has a bit more filling in to do). I am a friendly and happy little guy who loves to be with my foster mom (especially on the couch! I’m basically a couch potato kind of guy!). I even like kids if they are sweet to me and not rough. I would prefer older kids over the age of 12.
When I first got to my foster home I was very submissive and couldn't establish my place in a pack very well. I've worked sooo hard on learning about sharing, playing, and taking turns. I've learned it's okay to TALK growly but not BE growly! My foster mom thinks that sometime in my past someone wasn’t very nice to me and that’s why I didn't learn boundaries. I get along with most of the dogs and cats in my foster home, but my foster mom would prefer me to be adopted by a one-dog home since I'm still working on my dog-peep skills.
My house training is improving as long as you get me outside to potty every few hours and help me continue my training schedule. (My foster mom will bring bellybands to remind me not to mark in my new home.) I sleep quietly in my crate at night, but a bed would be heavenly. I also stay in a crate while you're away from home for short periods.
I’m ready to spread my swan wings to show you my nice manners. I'm walking great on a leash and potty outside. A fenced yard would be nice but not necessary as long as you take me for daily walks. I ride great in the car, and I would be a wonderful travel companion. I've gone camping in a big RV and I had a wonderful time. My mom doesn't recommend apartment life for me unless you're home most of the time.
I’m heartworm-negative and up-to-date with my vaccinations and monthly prevention. My teeth are sparkling white and I’ve been microchipped. I’m ready for my next adventure in my new forever home. All I need is someone to adore me as much as I will adore you! If you are thinking that we could swim into the future together, please contact my friends at SBRET and let them know that we could be furever mates! My adoption fee is $175.00.
