Hello Everyone! My name is Penny, a 10-year-old female Shih Tzu mix. I weigh about 13 pounds. I’m new to rescue but my foster mom says I’m a great girl. I have a wonderful funny, expressive face and am adorable! Sorry about my extremely short haircut but I was very matted when I arrived. I make snorting noises and really snore while I sleep! I’m told that it’s a good thing I’m cute and that maybe if I lose a pound or so it may get better.
I’m not very confident and struggle between wanting affection and running to hide under the bed. My foster mom will keep a leash or lead on me to keep me from running away! I enjoy wandering around in my fenced backyard and am doing well walking on a leash. When I visit family, I stay close to my foster mom and let other dogs meet me nicely. I’ve been exposed to a cat and children and I get along fine with both species!
I’m very unhappy in a crate and escaped right away from the xpen my foster mom put me in while she was at work. I’m happy to stay in a room with a baby gate, with a bed and the radio playing. No accidents yet during the day! Speaking of accidents, I’m doing very well on my house training. I have used a pee pad in the house, but not while I’m alone during the day. If taken outside enough, I’m almost exclusively pottying outside. Yay me!
I’ve yet to start playing with toys, but as I’m new to rescue I may still discover that toys are fun. It usually takes several weeks to feel completely comfortable. I’m beginning to settle in here and can’t wait to find a permanent home. I hope you’ll come meet me and consider me for your companion. I have been spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm/flea prevention. My adoption fee is $100.
