Meet Princess! A sweet senior female Shih Tzu around 10 years old weighing in at 11 pounds. Princess was surrendered by her elderly owners and has been in foster care with Small Breed Rescue since November. Unfortunately Princess was heartworm positive when she came into rescue but has since rocked out heartworm treatment.

At some point in her life, before coming into rescue, she did have her left eye removed and she has no vision in her right eye. She navigates pretty well despite being blind and will follow the sound of a familiar voice when called. As with most dogs who are blind, her sense of smell is excellent.

Her favorite hobbies are sleeping, eating, sleeping some more, cuddling and playing with toys. She loves to be held or given a lap to nap on. She does not jump on furniture but will happily rest next to you if placed on the furniture. Squeaky toys are her favorite, the louder the better but she often plays so rough with them that they don't squeak for long! She doesn't initiate play with other dogs, but will play with them for short periods if they initiate it so a home with no other dogs or calmer dogs would be fine.

As with all Shih Tzus, she will require frequent grooming, no worries though, she tolerates it very well. Overall she does great with house training. During the day she is confined to a small area (kitchen or bedroom) as she does not like being crated. She rarely barks and when she does it is usually to get your attention. We will stop all the bragging about this sweet little lady, if you think you might be interested in meeting her, contact SBRET. Princess is up to date on vaccines, heartworm and flea prevention, recently spayed and had her teeth cleaned. Her adoption fee is $100.
