Hello, my name is Sigourney but my foster mom calls me Maple — go figure!? She says I am so sweet and loving that I needed a name that reflects that. I am a female Rat Terrier mix, 8-10 years old and about 13 pounds. We are working on getting a little more weight off. I love to go on walks so my person needs to be partially active. I do pee and poo while walking on the leash but I am also familiar with a pee pad if left in the home all day while you are working. I am very food-motivated so lo-cal snacks are a great way to reward me for being an excellent little girl.
I would be fine with children over 12 years old or an adult family. My person will have to love having me constantly near them and under the covers is preferable but I will sleep on my own bed on the floor when I know my person is ok and sleeping. I would do best with another active senior dog so I’m not lonely while you are away. My person will also have to make sure I have regular annual checkups for any lumps as I did have a mast cell tumor removed from my side. They did get clean margins when my very successful surgery was done and the doctor did an X-ray and exam to make sure nothing had spread and that no more lumps were found. We want to make sure my person understands there is a possibility a lump may grow on my body later on and that lump will need to be removed. All my annual vaccines and monthly heartworm and flea prevention are current. I recently had my teeth cleaned and of course I am spayed and microchipped. My foster mom says my fur should grow in with the excellent diet and care she gives me and my adoptive parents will give me. I am very low maintenance and happy literally all the time. If my little face makes you melt, please contact my friends at SBRET and ask about Sigourney. My adoption fee is $100.
