I want to be in the front of the line when doggie attention is being given out! My name is Silas; I am a male scruffy Chihuahua mix about 6 1/2 lbs. I am a sweet boy and love to be active. Playing with toys and chewing on bones and sticks are my favorite things. My vet thinks I am probably 2-3 years old but my foster mom thinks I am younger, in spirit at least.

Even though I am a small dog I sure can jump high on my long legs - my foster mom says I am like a pogo stick. I do like to run around the fenced yard just for joy although I mostly stick pretty close to her when I am outside. I try to get my foster buddy to play with me but he doesn't want to - I would love to have another 2 legged friend in my new home to play with.

Am I housetrained? Well, no, but I am working on it. My foster mom puts me in a "belly band" which helps a lot plus she takes me outside a whole lot to reinforce the great attention I get when I do my business outside. I'm a smart dude so I'll get the hang of it. Since I came from a shelter I can't tell anyone about my previous home life but I can tell you I sure do like the cushy situation I find myself in now.

If you want a sweet, gentle, playful dog who loves giving kisses and getting petted, I am your guy. I have been neutered and given all the necessary shots, and am on monthly heart worm and flea preventative. If you would like to give me a home I sure would like that. Older children in the family would be fun! My adoption fee is $175.

9/30/12 update: Hey there Silas checking in with my fans...Are you currently looking for a dog that loves sticks, plays fetch, and can jump really high? Then I am the dog for you! My foster Mom tells me every morning that I make her smile and giggle because I am soooooo eager to start the day and seek adventure. I want to find the love of a furever family that is as adventurous as I am and would love to be involved in an activity where I could use my high jumping skills. Fly ball anyone? One more thing before I go, I am crate trained and doing fantastic on my potty training.
