Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee |

My name is Taz and I'm not like most of the little dogs you find at SBRET. I'm a 5-7 year old female mix - probably a hound mix. My mom got sick and died, and when the folks at SBRET learned I didn't have anywhere to go, they invited me to be an honorary Small Breed. While my exact breed is up for debate, I've definitely got good ole East Tennessee Hound Dog in me. And I am kind of small for a hound dog, weighing in at only 42 lbs. I'm a true East Tennessean. I've never met a stranger and love to touch noses and give kisses to everyone I meet. At my old home, I was an outside dog with a buddy. At my foster home, I stay inside a lot and get playtime outside with the rest of the dogs. I love my crate and bed, and I've got very good house manners – or so says my foster mom. I'm curious about everything and will go to investigate, but if you tell me "No", I'll leave it alone. When my foster family is home, I get to hang out with them or be out back. When they have to step out, I have no problem going to my crate to nap. Being a hound dog, I've got that lovely southern voice. The good thing is I don't believe it is polite to just bark and bay without reason, and my foster mom says she appreciates my being quiet when told to hush. It also helps that I'm a grown up dog without all those puppy tendencies that get dogs in trouble. The only bad habit I've picked up is digging. Can I help it if I want to see what's on the other side of the fence? At my foster home, it's chickens that come over from the neighbor's house. We never had chickens at my old house, and I never tried to dig out there, so it might just be the chickens. Anyway, my foster dad was worried that I might get hurt so he put up a little white reminder wire that nips me if I try to get too close to the fence. It works really well. I love to go on slow, leisurely walks. I've got a great nose and love to sniff around. I also enjoy getting petted and brushed. Toys are okay, but I'd rather just get loved on. I like hanging around with my dog buddies, but I'm kind of laid back, not the type to wrestle a lot. I LOVE bones, but prefer to have those inside my crate so I don't have to worry about anyone trying to steal my bone. So, if you'd like a sweet companion, who likes to get out a bit, but you don't want an overachiever – I might just be the dog for you. If you're interested in adopting a sweet gal like me, please contact my new SBRET pals. My adoption fee is $100.
