Hello SBRET world – meet Meeko!  Super soft brindle Dachshund mix boy, only about 1 year old and weighing in at 13 lbs. This sweet little guy just wants to be your friend, once he gets over his shyness.

Named for the Disney raccoon, he’s not nearly as mischievous, but does love his (and your!) snacks!  So doing some fun training and tricks should be a snap with his food motivation. He gets a slow-feed bowl at meals so he doesn’t inhale his food too quickly (and he tries to steal the other dogs’ food once he’s done with his own!).  While he is learning to walk on a leash, Meeko can get scared sometimes.  You’ll need to have patience with him.  All he wants to do is be with you, so that makes it easier!  He takes a bit to warm up to new people, you can’t rush him and young kids make him nervous. Housetraining is a work in progress, Meeko does try to hold it til you take him out, but sometimes he gets too excited and dribbles a bit.  So he’s wearing a belly band to help with that.  At bedtime and when foster mom is gone from the house, he stays quietly in a crate.  But would LOVE to sleep with you. 

Meeko will also cuddle the heck out of you during couch time.  Be prepared to regularly give belly rubs and be licked in thanks. Not just a couch potato tho! Meeko enjoys play time in the fenced yard with his foster siblings and exploring on leashed walks.  He’s also been respectful of cats.  Toys are another favourite of his, he will collect them all in his dog bed and sit on them like a dragon hoard.
