🐾 Meet Sammy — A Resilient Little Gentleman Looking for His Forever Home:

Hi there! I’m Sammy — a five-year-old, 10-pound male Shih Tzu with a heart full of hope and a story that’ll tug at yours. I may be petite for my breed, but I pack a whole lot of charm and sweetness into this fluffy little frame.

Before rescue, life wasn’t kind to me. I was kept outside in a pen, severely matted and vulnerable. One day, another dog got into my pen and injured my eye so badly I needed surgery to remove it. But don’t worry — I’m healing beautifully, and my coat is growing back into the soft, snuggly fluff it was meant to be.

I get along with the dogs who were already in my foster home, but I can be a bit bossy when new pups arrive. I’ve also had a bladder stone removed, and I will need to stay on a prescription diet for the rest of my life so that hopefully I will not have any more of those pesky stones! Thankfully, I’m tiny, so the food isn’t too pricey.

When it comes to people, I’m a little cautious. I want love and attention, but I get nervous and may growl at first. With my foster mom, though? I’m smitten. She’s my safe place, and I trust her completely.

I do have some separation anxiety. Being left alone makes me anxious — I’ll howl and scratch at the door. That’s why I need someone who’s home most of the time. At night, I sleep peacefully in a crate next to my foster mom’s bed. I’m also great in the car and walk nicely on a leash.

As for cats? I steer clear. The one here is a bit intimidating!

I’m looking for a patient, loving home that understands I’ve been through a lot. I need someone who will show me that people can be kind, and that I’ll never be abandoned again.

I’m neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and current on preventatives. My adoption fee is $175.
