Zara

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Zara needs:

  • Children should be OK if they are gentle and over eight years old
  • Adult home with everyone steady on their feet since she is visually impaired she can sometimes get underfoot
  • Someone home part of the day as Zara does have anxiety about being left alone
  • No access to long flights of steps and no apartments  as I may bark when you have to be away
  • Continue my prescription eye medication for dry eye

Meet Zara!

Zara is a 9-year-old female Shih Tzu mix with a gentle heart looking for a calm, loving home to spend her golden years. She is a sensitive girl who experiences anxiety but with a predictable routine and patient people, she will settle in. She takes an inexpensive anxiety medication twice a day to help her not be so worried. She may have to continue this throughout her life or it is possible she could eventually settle into your routine and not be so worried. No apartment living for her since she may bark when you go away.

She is vision impaired and relies on familiar surroundings and verbal reassurance to feel safe, so a quiet home with consistent layout is ideal for her and no access to long flights of stairs. Older children in the home, a sure footed adult and no cats would be best for her. A fenced in yard is not a requirement but she does enjoy a sunny spot to lay in. Zara loves  to sleep with her human and will stay in a gated area when you are away—crates make her uncomfortable.  Zara does great with her housetraining!

Daily prescription medication for dry eye and anxiety medication are required and  she handles both like a pro.

Zara is spayed, had a dental, had surgery on her eye lids to get eyelashes off her eyes, is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and current on flea and heartworm medication. Her adoption fee is $100.

Thank you for considering Zara!
