Hey everyone, meet Colby! Colby is a 9-week-old Beagle mix. Weighing in at 6 lbs, he is just a big, soft, snuggly pup. He lives with his four siblings, and is the voice of reason amidst all the shenanigans! He is a playful little guy, but has a very calm and sweet temperament. He is a puppy, and still gets into plenty of trouble, but for the most part, he's just an easygoing guy.
He didn't come into rescue until he was 7 weeks old, so he's behind on his potty training but is working hard to catch up. How fast he potty trains will be up to you. If you are consistent with him and take him out frequently, you will find yourself with a potty trained puppy. He will have accidents, but I promise you he's not doing it to make you mad or to be stubborn. I also promise you that if you yell at him or are harsh with him when he has accidents, you may never have a properly potty trained puppy. What you will have is a puppy who has learned to be afraid of you. The way to potty train a puppy is with lots of patience and consistency, and if you don't feel like that will work for you, please consider an older dog.
He loves his dry kibble and sleeps quietly all night in an indoor X-Pen with his brother and sisters. Of course, he will have some adjusting to do when he's away from his family for the first time ever in his new home, so it will be up to his new family to make him feel safe and loved. He rides well in a carrier in the car.
Colby's mom was 30 lbs, so we think he is going to be a nice medium-sized dog. Since he will be a little bigger, he should be okay with children over the age of 5, as long as they have been taught how to interact with a puppy. Please, no ear or tail pulling!
Whew, that's a lot of info! If you've made it this far, and think a puppy is right for you, please visit SBRET.com and get your application in for Colby! He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on his puppy shots. His adoption fee is $175.
