I’m a handsome neutered male Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix aged 5 years and tipping the scales at a whopping 9.4 pounds. I definitely look more like my Chihuahua ancestry! My human had a big life change and I could not stay in her life. Sadly, neither could the other small dogs I grew up with. I have been extraordinarily scared of everything, but I’m working through the challenges with loving help from my SBRET foster mom.
Physically, I am a perfect specimen! At least since having my teeth cleaned this week and having 6 extractions. I’m heartworm and all the other yucky ones negative. My vet says I’m the picture of health and should maintain my present weight.
I’ve had all my shots and am current on flea and heartworm prevention. I eat my dry kibble well and behave appropriately in the car, for vet care, for bathing, and for nail trims. I’m cautiously friendly with other small dogs and cats. I understand potty pads and will use them. I’m learning to like “going” outdoors. I am shy, but given some time will become your best friend. I love to pile up on the sofa, cuddle and watch a movie, especially if there is popcorn! And oh! Did I tell you about my squeaky toys? I am learning to walk on a leash, but I still tend to freeze and get frightened so right now a fenced yard will be best for me.
At night I want to be in the bed with you. If you are not okay with that scenario, please keep looking. My foster mom would tell you I’m not negotiable on sleeping arrangements. Also, she would tell you that I do not like being confined. I’m working on my crate training for when she can’t stay home with me, but that’s a work in progress! I need love and patience! My adoption fee is $175.
