Hi, my name is Stewart. I am a male Shih Tzu mix who is about 8 to 9 years old and I weigh 21 lbs. I was found as a stray and taken to a shelter. SBRET rescued me and I am now in foster care. I settled into my new home very quickly and get along well with my foster fur sisters. I am a very sweet boy who loves to be where my humans are and will follow you around the house, then lie quietly by your feet. I initially had some separation anxiety and would bark and scratch at the door if my foster mom left the house, but that has gotten much better with time.

The shelter had given me the name of Stinkerbutt and my foster mom instantly figured out why. She took me straight to the groomers to get an appointment
and they were able to get me right in. After getting my fur clipped down, it became obvious that my skin was in bad shape and my ears were infected. This
was why I had a bad odor. I was also very itchy and obviously miserable! I had my vet visit 2 days later and was put on an antibiotic, an antifungal, ear drops
and a special shampoo. In about 3 days I was starting to feel much better. I have been on the medication for about 3 weeks. I am no longer itchy, my skin
looks much better, and my ears are clear. My foster mom thinks that I must have felt pretty bad, because I am now more animated and have begun
playing with toys and trying to get my fur foster sisters to play with me.

I am house-trained and have not had a problem with marking in the house. My foster mom has me on a regular 4 to 5 hour schedule for potty breaks and I
have done well with that. I walk well on a leash and enjoy going for short walks, but a secure fenced yard would be great, also. I love to eat, but need to
lose 2-3 pounds so my foster mom has me on a diet. I have lost 1 pound so far! My foster mom tried to get me to sleep in a kennel beside her bed at night,
but I didn’t cooperate – I whined most of the 2 nights that she tried. I now sleep quietly on the dog bed beside her bed and everyone is happy! I climb and
descend stairs with no problems. I am a good car rider as long as the car is moving. If you stop, I will whine to get out.

I would do best in a home with another fur buddy for companionship and to romp with or having my human home most of the day. Children 8 and older
in the home would also be best. I am neutered and microchipped. My vaccines are up to date, and I am on heartworm and flea prevention. Also, I have had a dental.
I still have a couple more weeks of being on an oral antifungal and I do get my ears re-checked on Monday, May 22. My adoption fee is $100.
