Ellen

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Ellen needs:

  • Kids over 10 years old who know how to be gentle and won’t trip on me
  • Another mellow pup OR someone home most of the day

This is Ellen. She is a 9-pound, 5-year-old Chihuahua  mix who is an all around very good girl! Ellen was at an area shelter  and SBRET was asked to bring her into our rescue.

She’s a big ole cuddle bug who will leave you rich in warm laps and face kisses just as soon as she has 2-3 minutes to warm up out of her cautious shyness.

She walks great on a leash and enjoys car rides. A bit antsy for a min or two and then she will settle into her booster seat, snuggle under a blanket and take a nap.

Someone has trained her to use potty pads and she is very good at aiming for them in the house. She will also go potty outside if taken out often. Her foster family is working on teaching her that people prefer outside potty’s to potty pads. She does not love it when it’s cold outside but she is a good girl and will go out anyway, she will just be a bit reluctant about it.

When left alone during the day she is left out and about where she causes no trouble at all. She will whine a bit but will settle down. She settles faster with a dog buddy around so she will need a home with another pup or someone home most of the time.

After some time to settle she is content to stay cozy on a dog bed or the couch until you come home. She will bark the cutest lil bark when someone knocks or the mail man comes by, but settles quickly and is otherwise a very quiet gal who enjoys when company comes to visit.

At night she has been sleeping in the big bed with her foster mom, but would be ok sleeping in her own bed on the floor as long as she gets to be in the room with you.

She gets along with other small dogs and enjoys snuggling and mellow play time with them. She would probably be fine with an older or mellow big dog that won’t play rough and accidentally hurt her. She will give gentle corrections when she’s had enough in very polite dog language for, ‘no thank you’.

If she eats food or treats faster than other pups, she will try to steal extra lil bits so, best if she eats meals alone so that everyone else also gets to eat!

We don’t know what she thinks of cats but are fairly confidence with her demeanor that she would be just fine to ignore them and maybe even cuddle if a cat was so inclined.

She has not met any kids yet. We believe she would politely avoid the tiny ones and would love some gentle love and attention from 10 year old or older kiddos who can pet gently and wouldn’t accidentally fall or step on her. When she gets excited she will jump up to give face kisses and sometimes bumps her teeth (not a bite) on your chin, we would be worried that might scare or accidentally hurt a kiddo under 10.

She is up to date on her shots and flea/tick and heart worm prevention, spayed, micro chipped and ready to come home to her new family! Her adoption fee is $175.
