Hello, my name is Gertie.  I am a sweet 6-year-old, 11-pound female Chihuahua mix. I am looking for someone to make me feel safe and loved in a forever home.

I came to SBRET from a very bad hoarding situation where I was found neglected along with 70 other dogs.  I think you will understand from my background that when I arrived at my foster parent’s home, I was very worried, and I needed time to get to know them before I felt safe enough to interact.  I’ve now learned that people are actually pretty great, and I have loved living with my foster family, enjoying the normal dog life.

I have learned so many new things in my foster home including how to take walks with my family on a leash. I do not require a fenced in  yard, but I might enjoy it.  I do like to run around at times, but it is not necessary as long as you are willing to take me for walks and keep me safe with a harness and leash.

Here are a few of my favorite things: lounging in the sun, curling up for a nap, soft blankets, snuggle time, taking walks, and of course treats!

Here are things that I currently do not like so much: car rides and being cold!

Overall, I’m a really good healthy girl that is loving, cuddly, and will always be happy to see you. I just need a short time to show you what an awesome pet I will be!

I’m up to date on my flea/heartworm preventions and my vaccines. I am spayed and microchipped. I’ve had a dental checkup and my teeth are in great shape. My adoption fee is $175.
