Pearl

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Pearl needs:

  • Adult home with everyone steady on their feet as I am so tiny
  • If other dogs in the home they need to be small seniors like me
  • Able to purchase and administer my prescription eye drops
  • No access to long flights of stairs

Pearl is a 9 year old, 4 pound little white female Chihuahua and she is just as cute as can be!! She has had a challenging couple months as her owner had to surrender her and so she had to adjust to a new living situation.  She also had to be spayed and have a dental where she lost 12 teeth (don’t worry she still has teeth left) but gained wonderful breath!  Despite her tiny size she is pretty fast on her feet.  Pearl has been gaining a little weight since she has been on a steady feeding schedule. She is very sweet and has yet to make any noise at her foster home despite the other dogs barking. She does well with other dogs but they need to be on the smaller side.  She loves her crate since it has her fluffy bed and blanket.  Her favorite things are sleeping and meal time.  Since she has been in her foster home she has come out of her shell and loves to get pets.  She can get on the couch and her Foster’s  bed with the help of steps, speaking of steps she can go up the stairs but we carry her down since she can be a little unsteady on her feet. Pearl also has played with some toys and loves her duck. She’s done great with her potty training as long as she goes out on a regular schedule as she is tiny.  She has started to go to the door when she needs to go outside, but she will still need to be taken out regularly.  She also uses potty pads and is very good with number one but due to her hocks (more on that later) she has trouble doing number two in one spot.  She sleeps in her crate at night and feels more comfortable in a room with her crate. She rides well in a car in a crate.

Pearl has good knees but unfortunately her hocks are slipping.  A dog with a slipped hock has a loose joint or it can be completely out of alignment. This condition is genetic and gives her a bit of a wonky walk but is not painful  and does not require surgery.  She also has dry eye in  her right eye and requires prescription  medication twice daily.

She is  spayed, had a dental, microchipped and up to date on her  vaccines  and her preventatives. Pearl’s adoption fee is $100.

Duckie is my favorite toy!
