Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Meadow needs:

  • Adult home or one with children over 12
  • Patient owner willing to continue work on housetraining
  • Someone home during the day

My name is Meadow. My foster mom says I’m a DELIGHTFUL 8 yr old, parti-colored Pomeranian female weighing in at a petite 7 pounds.  She often calls me her Fuzzy-Wuzzy Woolly Bear because I’m so adorable.  I came from a horrific hoarding/breeding location which was so terrible that the owners were prosecuted.  In spite of that, I’m a little miracle because I’m almost perfect and not at all typical of a puppy mill dog.  I get along well with other dogs, cats, and people.  Like any new dog, I might be shy at first, but I do not take very long to choose my peeps and stick to them.  I love to be with you when you move about the house, in a chair, on a couch, etc.  If you like to watch TV, I’ll keep you company right by your side.  I do well in a crate at night, in a car, and while you’re out of the house. I would be happiest in a home where my owner is home most of the day.   I’m a great little eater.  I don’t bark much at all.  My foster mom has only heard my voice once or twice.  I like chew toys and love to play with you.  Even though I’m about 8 yrs old, I still act like a puppy sometimes.

I’m working on basic commands such as “Come, Stay, Sit, No, Potty, Good Girl, Uh-Uh, and Go to Bed” (crate).  She thinks I’m trying very hard to please and learn everything that I’ve been missing all my life.

Since I’m a Pomeranian, I will always need frequent combing and regular professional grooming.  Right now, my coat is cut short because I was so terribly matted when I was rescued (that’s why FM calls me her fuzzy-wuzzy woolly bear J).  My black, white, and tan coat is just beautiful and I’m cute-as-a-button!

Now, I know you’re thinking that I’m the Perfect Pet for you, BUT, since I’ve lived my life in substandard conditions and had no training at all, I really haven’t learned the difference between pottying inside or outside.  Also, I was never spayed before I came to SBRET, so when I’m in new situations, I mark a lot to claim all my wonderful, new territory. That does seem to improve some after settling in but I do have to wear diapers when wandering around the house.   My foster mom takes me out frequently and regularly which is helping, but it will just take time to continue my training.  There’s no guarantee that I will ever be 100% perfect indoors, so if that is make/break to you, then I am DEFINITELY NOT the dog for you.    I’m doing very well about tolerating a diaper and don’t try to take it off.  I cannot be left in a doggie diaper all day because sitting in urine/poop is not healthy.   This issue is certainly something to consider, but the joy I bring is certainly worth the effort.  Currently, I potty in a small fenced area (courtyard)…I don’t need a huge space to do my business.

I  have luxating patellas like many small dogs but they are not painful but you need to keep my weight at 7 pounds and avoid long flights of stairs or jumping off furniture.  I may not be a hiking companion but short walks are great as I’m working on my leash skills. I also have a small scar on my left eye from a previous injury.

If you think you would be willing to be adored by my almost perfect self and are willing to take really great care of me, please contact SBRET.  I’m spayed, microchipped, had a dental, received my vaccinations, and am current on my heartworm/flea preventions.  My adoption fee is $175.
