Meet the cute n scruffy Geneva, aka “Ginny” or “Ginny Girl”! She is almost 2 years old and about 12 lbs. This little terrier mix girl came into rescue with her puppies; they’ve all been adopted out and now it’s Ginny’s turn to find her fur-ever home.
Ginny is housetrained; if there’s a doggy door, she’ll even take herself outside. Leashed walks and hikes have her trotting along with you fantastically. She sleeps quietly in bed with you and loves bouncing through the fenced yard with other playful pups in her foster home. While she crates well on command when foster mom leaves, she will tell you and all the neighbors all about it. Cats in the home have been ignored.
Ginny does have some quirks. She is VERY shy/cautious about approaching people, even foster mom after multiple months in the home and even with yummy treats on hand. You can only barely scratch her chin before she jumps away again. To catch Ginny for walks, she needs to be approached very cautiously. Let her find her safe spot, only THEN can you approach her. It is trainer recommended that she stay on harness/leash and attached to you for the first little bit in the home. This, along with hand-feeding many of her meals, will help her be more comfortable with you. Ginny Girl loves romping in the fenced yard, and seems more comfortable approaching foster mom while outside, so a fenced yard is a must to help her best socialize with you.
Ginny may never be a snuggle-bug, but she will give you all the love she can in tiny little licks and kisses to your fingers. And you will have an awesome walking companion on your daily jaunts. She has even done pretty well out and about town, just as long as you don’t force strangers on her. Encourage her to socialize at her own pace and you will have an adorable companion for life.
