Lulu

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Lulu needs:

  • Active adult home or one with children over 12 where someone is at home most of the day to make sure she has time for exercise and play
  • A fenced-in yard
  • Someone willing to throw her ball a few times a day
  • Someone to continue working with her on learning to walk on a leash, her barking, and her reactions to strangers
  • No apartments as she does bark at strangers and sometimes when she is happy and playin
  • Regular brushing and occasional grooming

Lulu is a female Terrier mix, is between 1-2 years old, and weighs 17.6 pounds. Her fur is wispy and long, and her legs are long, too! She loves to run and stretch her legs.

Lulu is very active. She loves to chase her ball, and her foster family makes sure she gets some ball-chasing time several times a day. She also likes to play with her stuffed toys. If everyone in the family is busy and can’t play, she is usually content to play by herself or take a nap until someone is free.

She is friendly with and likes other dogs. She is possessive about her food, so dogs should be fed separately. Lulu would do well in a home with another dog that would accept her and want to play with her. She loves to chase squirrels, therefore she probably would not be good in a home with a cat that runs from her.

Lulu is housebroken. If she is able to get out by herself using a doggy door and the weather is nice, she likes to run around the yard and will use the bathroom. She also likes to go out to potty (supervised) before bedtime and when she first wakes up. Lulu sleeps in a crate in her foster parents’ bedroom but she would probably love to sleep in the big bed with her new owners! When her family must leave her to run errands during the day, she has been trustworthy to leave free within the house. She is also OK with being crated for up to three hours. She rides in the car inside her crate and is quiet.

She is learning to walk on a leash without pulling and is making great progress. We don’t think she ever walked on a leash before coming into rescue, but she is smart and is learning quickly.

Lulu barks at people she does not know who approach her, even when outside her home. She definitely barks when someone comes to her house. She also barks sometimes when she is happy and wants some attention.

Lulu had a training session with a professional dog trainer, and her foster mom has notes from the training and is willing to spend some time going over what Lulu has been working on.

Lulu will require frequent brushing and occasional grooming. She is a very loving and sweet dog and will be an excellent family pet! Lulu is spayed and is up to date on all of her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $175.
