- Someone home part of the day
- Adult home with everyone steady on their feet
- Children at least 12 years of age

Meet Sophie– A sweet 2.5-year old, 9.5-pound, white & tan female scruffy Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. Sophie bonds very quickly with her favorite person(s). When she decides who that is she just wants to be by their side at all times so if you don’t see her – look down and there she is :-). Everyone in the home needs to be sure-footed so no one gets hurt. Sophie will sometimes guard your lap from the other dogs. She would do best with calm children at least 12 years of age that understand she might need a little space until she settles in. We are working on mealtime as she seems to be a picky/messy eater and wants you near by while she eats. Like many small dogs she has mild luxating patellas (slippy knees) so losing a little weight would help with that. She hasn’t expressed interest in toys while being in her foster home. She will hang out with the other dogs in her foster home but doesn’t really interact much with them. Sophie would probably be ok with cats as long as they don’t get in her space.
She needs an adult home where someone is home most of the day — when her person leaves the house Sophie needs to see them go out the door or she will spend her time whining and looking for her person. She doesn’t like to be crated during the day so in her foster home she is in an indoor gated area with everything she needs. At night she sleeps all night quietly in her crate next to her foster mom’s bed.
She is doing well with her housetraining — she goes potty outside and will use pee pads if she needs to. The first couple of days in her foster home she needed to go out to potty frequently as she was nervous but that calmed down when she became more comfortable. Sophie walks well on a leash/harness, she also rides well crated (to keep her safe) in the car.
All of Sophie’s vaccines & flea/heartworm preventions are up to date. Sophie had a dental and is spayed and microchipped. If your looking for a faithful loving companion here she is. Get your online application approved and make sure to ask for Sophie. Adoption fee is $175.
