Hi, I’m Sampson! 🐾
I’m an 8-lb, 1½-year-old male Chihuahua mix looking for my forever home. I landed with the fine folks at SBRET through owner surrender and I’m ready for a fresh start with someone who’ll love me for exactly who I am.
A little about me:
I’m sweet, but I do things my way — I’d much rather trot over to you than have you scoop me up. Please don’t chase me down for cuddles; if you’re patient and just sit on the sofa, I’ll lie down right next to you. That’s my love language.
I’ve got a case of FOMO, so if you’re petting another dog in the house, I’ll come zooming in for my share of the attention too. I’m still building my confidence, so a fenced yard is a must for me, and I’d really thrive with another young, active dog in the home — I love running at top speed and playing chase, and having a buddy would do wonders for my confidence.
The practical stuff:
- I’m great with other dogs and cats
- Because I’m so small, I do best in a home without kids under 8
- I’m potty trained
- I’m still learning leash manners, so my new family will need to keep working on that with me
- I’m not a fan of crates, but I do just fine hanging out loose with my foster siblings when everyone’s out or at bedtime
- I’ve done pretty well with the few car rides I’ve been on and will probably only get better at it
- I love de-stuffing toys
- I enjoy gnawing on Nylabones — great way to keep me busy
- I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines, flea and heartworm prevention
