Benson needs:
- Active Adult home with everyone sure-footed
- Children must be gentle and over 12 years of age
- Someone home part of the day to continue housetraining
- Someone able to take him for a walk twice a day
I’d like you to meet Benson. He is a 3 year old male Shih Tzu mix. He is white & tan and weighs 12 pounds. He needs an active adult home with everyone steady on their feet. Children need to be gentle and over 12 years of age.
He walks well on a leash/harness but he is a stubborn little man at times. After dark he doesn’t like to go outside unless he is on a leash for some reason so even if you have a fenced you will need to put him on a leash to take him out to potty. He’s doing really well with his housetraining skills as long as you keep him on a routine so he needs someone home part of the day. He is crate trained. Sometimes he gets grumpy at bedtime and same thing put him on a leash and he heads for his crate. I think the leash shows him who is in charge. Then he sleeps quietly all night unless he hears something – he’ll growl and go back to sleep. Benson also rides well crated in the car. I put the crate between the seats so he can see where we are headed. When I need to leave the house for a few hours he naps in his crate until I return – I have a camera so I can check on him when I’m gone.
Benson gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home, and he hangs out but doesn’t play with them. He would be fine as an only dog and would probably be ok with a cat I think. He loves chew toys and will dig to the bottom of the toy box until he finds the right one. Benson is very food motivated most of the time so that’s a plus.
He recently had cherry eyes repaired in both eyes and they look great. He is neutered/microchipped and up to date on his vaccines and flea/heartworm preventions. If you have the kind of home that Benson needs contact SBRET.COM to submit your online application. Once you are approved we can meet up.
The adoption fee is $175.
