What We Do

Since 2003, SBRET has been taking in abused, neglected, ill, unwanted, and injured small breed dogs and placed them in foster homes for rehabilitation.  All our available dogs live with foster families in the Knoxville area since we do not have a facility.  Our wonderful volunteer foster families provide shelter and food and lots of love and nurture for each dog. You can see dogs currently available by clicking on Available Rescues on our website.

SBRET pays for all veterinary costs associated with caring for each dog while it is in foster care including spay/neuter, immunizations, dentals, microchipping, any necessary additional surgeries, and heartworm/flea prevention.

We are 100 percent committed to the health and safety of our dogs and have an adoption process that includes an online adoption application, veterinary reference check, and home visit.  We have rescued and found forever homes for more than 3000 dogs, thanks to our wonderful volunteer foster families and generous supporters. For more information on our adoption process, please see our Adoption Process page.
