Hi, my name is Caspian. I am a 6.8 pound, male Toy Poodle, and I am about 8 years old. I have been in foster care with SBRET since the end of June when my owner passed away. I settled into my foster home quickly and get along well with my foster fur sister. My foster mom thinks that I am the sweetest bundle of cuteness, and she can’t help but pick me up and hug me all the time. I like to follow you around and be where you are, whether that is lying in my bed close by or on the couch cuddling with you. I would prefer to have another small dog in my new home as a companion when you need to go out. I’d like for you to be home most of the day. Also because of my small size, my new owner needs to be steady on their feet and children should be 10 years or older.
When my vet check was done, it was discovered that I had luxating patellas (slipping knees) on both hind legs—one was a grade 2 and the other was a grade 3. I had the grade 3 repaired, but the post surgery x-ray revealed another issue – I had stones in my bladder! I was put on a special food to help discourage the formation of any more stones. After healing from my knee surgery, I had surgery to remove the stones from my bladder. After recovering from that, I was still having some urgent pee issues and it was discovered that I had some scar tissue/mass in my bladder, which was removed. Just to be safe the tissue has been sent to pathology and we are currently waiting for the results. I recovered well and the need to pee on a frequent basis is getting better. I have had no accidents in the house for the last 10 days and is now going out to potty about every 3-4 hours. Through all of this I have continued to be a sweet and loving little boy who has been a joy to my foster home. I am now ready to find my forever home.
I sleep quietly in a kennel in my foster parents’ room and love going for short walks. Exploring outside is a favorite thing to do, so having a very secure (I am small and can fit through small spaces ) fenced yard would be great but not required. I love to snuggle with you! I am currently on Hill’s prescription diet Urinary Care C/D and will need to be kept on it for the rest of my life. An 8 pound bag costs about $50, but lasts about 3 months.
I am up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. My adoption fee is $175.
