Easel

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Easel needs:

  • Adult home or one with children over 8
  • No access to flights of stairs
  • Someone able to lift a 16-pound dog if necessary since he is missing part of a front leg
  • Someone willing to manage his weight as it would be detrimental to his health to put on excess weight
  • If there are other dogs in the home, they need to be not too rambunctious
  • Regular professional grooming

Meet Easel, a charming 7-year-old Shih Tzu with a gentle soul and so much love to give. Weighing 16 pounds, Easel may be missing part of his front right leg, but it certainly doesn’t slow him down—he gracefully bops along on his other three legs with quiet determination and heart-melting charm.

Easel has a sweet, slightly nervous temperament and may need a little time to settle into a new home and routine. Once he feels safe, his affectionate personality begins to shine. He loves gathering all of his toys into his bed, relaxing in the yard while taking in the sights and smells of nature, and curling up in a warm lap whenever one is available.

He does wonderfully in his crate when his foster mom is away from home and happily sleeps there at night. Easel is potty trained and gets along well with children, cats, and other dogs. He would thrive best with calm canine companions who will respect his space rather than being overly energetic or in his face.

Because of his leg, Easel cannot safely manage stairs and will need a family who can carry him up and down steps inside the home or outside as needed. A fenced yard is not required, but he would be delighted to have a backyard where he can spend time enjoying the fresh air and exploring scents at his own pace.

And don’t let those mournful eyes fool you—behind them is a loving little dog simply waiting for the forever family who will adore him and in return he will love you unconditionally.

Easel is current on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on preventions and recently had a dental. His adoption fee is $175.
