Josie needs:

• Adult home or with children who will be gentle and at least 8 years of age
• Someone home part of the day to continue house training

My name is Josie, I’m a 6-year-old, 7.5-pound female Chihuahua mix. I’m mostly Black with white on my face and paws. I’m a pretty, little gentle girl who loves to snuggle. I’m a little shy but warm up in a short time. I would need any children to be gentle and at least 8 years of age. I’m doing great in my foster home and would probably settle in quickly when I get adopted. I sleep quietly all night in my crate. I like to sleep later than the other dogs here so my foster mom feeds them and gets them settled before I eat, potty and start my day. 

I get along well with the other dogs as long as they don’t get in my face – I let them know their boundaries and they back off. I would probably be alright with cats if they keep their distance as well. I haven’t shown any interest in toys or playing with the other dogs yet, but maybe I will in the future when I’m more settled. My house training is going great as long as I’m taken out every few hours so someone home part of the day will be great for me. I walk on a leash/harness but could use a little more practice if you plan on taking me for walks around the neighborhood. My foster mom crates me when she needs to leave the house for a few hours, and I usually just nap until she returns. I ride crated in the car to keep me safe – I whine for a minute and then I’m ok with it. My foster mom is very proud of me because I’ve done so well in the short period of time that I have been with her.

I was recently spayed & microchipped.  I also had a dental cleaning at that time—they removed 7 yucky teeth so I’m taking antibiotics for the next few days just to be sure there is no infection. I am up to date on my vaccines and flea/heartworm preventions.
