LauraBelle

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

LauraBelle needs:

  • Needs a secure area to exit home due to darting behavior
  • Needs a week to adjust to new adopters and home
  • No big dogs but needs a doggy companion to play with
  • Fenced yard
  • Adult-only home with everyone steady on their feet (no young children) and someone experienced with shy dogs and home most of the day

LauraBelle-of-the Ball (LauraBelle for short) is a delightful 4 year old, 6-7 lb, white/ peachy girl who loves her people fiercely once she adjusts to a new environment.  She was surrendered from a hoarding situation so her initial condition required some extra care, but she’s all fixed up now and is happy and healthy.  She may look tiny in stature, but she is a sturdy little Chihuahua.

She will follow her people from room-to-room and sit on your lap for TV time, but she will also play like a pup.  Her foster home considers her a Furever Puppy with Adult Habits.  She loves to play with other dogs.  New people or surroundings can be scary at first, but she has made excellent progress adjusting during the time in her foster home. She would be great with dog-savvy cats because she loves to play with them although shy cats might not appreciate her enthusiasm.  She will bark if other dogs are barking or new people appear, but she is responding to “Hush” commands.  Young children are not advised since she loves to kiss people and can be mouthy when playing.

She eats like a champ, potties outside when on a regular schedule (and will use a potty pad too), likes toys, and going outdoors.  She will need a small fenced area preferably with direct access to the exterior doors because she will dart outside; she is learning the “Back-off” command quite well, but everyone in the home needs to be steady on their feet.  Her adopter will need to give her time to adjust so being on a leash 24/7 is advised during her transition period.

She travels well in a crate in the car and knows to go to her crate on command at night or when her people leave the house.  She’s quite the charmer and steals hearts quickly.  She loves belly rubs and positive praise.  If you’re looking for a fantastic little gal, she’s the doggo for you!

She is currently vaccinated (rabies, bordatella, DAPP), on heartworm and flea treatment, microchipped, and spayed.  Her adoption fee is $175.
