Lexi needs:
- Dog savvy adult home experienced with shy dogs
- Someone home most of the day to help with my minor separation issues and continue my housetraining
- Fenced yard
- Another young small dog or 2 to hang out with
Hi everyone my name is Lexi. I am a 2-year-old, 6-pound female Chihuahua mix. As you can see I am adorable with my snowy white fur with cute tan markings.
I will need a day or two to warm up to you and I will probably stay in my crate (with the door open), so be patient. When I’m ready I will come to you. I need a shy dog-savvy adult who is sure-footed to help me become more confident. Also, another small dog to keep me busy and help me learn my new routine will be very beneficial.
Plan on walking me on a leash – even though you have a fenced yard. After I begin to trust you, I will stay close by. Remember to keep me safe you need to stay with me when you take me out. I do have minor separation issues right now but hopefully when I’m feeling more confident I’ll be better with that. I can jump a 3 foot gate with no problem – I do need to be in my crate when my foster mom leaves the house for a few hours as I have been known to get into things that will make me sick. My foster mom has a camera so she can check on me when she’s gone – I usually fuss for about 5 minutes then nap. When I hear her get home, I screech like someone is trying to harm me until she picks me up and takes me right out for a potty break. At night I like sleeping crated in my foster mom’s room so I know she’s close and to make me feel safe she covers it. I am an early riser so plan on waking to my little whiney self. Sometimes my foster mom tells me to go back to sleep and I usually do for a little while. I’m still working on my potty habits, and I’m improving as long as you take me out often and then that awful cold/snowy weather showed up. I refuse to walk on the snow so my foster mom cleared a path to the grass but sometimes I potty on the sidewalk – well at least I’m going potty outside right? I get along well with the other dogs my size. In my foster home, we snuggle and I’m starting to play with them a little – not with toys just yet. I’m a slow eater and sometimes when the other dogs finish first I feel the need to guard my food so my foster mom feeds me in a separate area. I do ok at treat time. I like to snuggle with you and on occasion I will guard your lap by growling at the other dogs – if you correct me I stop; and if I don’t, you need to put me on the floor so I will learn it’s wrong. I do like to hang out on the top of the recliner so I can keep my eyes on things. All in all I’m doing really well my foster mom says.
I’m up to date on my flea/heartworm preventions and my vaccines. I am spayed and microchipped. My adoption fee is $175. If you have the wonderful home I’m wanting, contact my friends at SBRET and get your on-line application approved so we can meet up real soon. Keep warm, Lexi
