Meet Mimi, Beautiful – 2 year old female scruffy Terrier mix. She weighs 6.5 pounds has white wiry fur with silver markings.An active adult home that will help with her social skills and learn to be more confident would be great for this sweet little girl. Everyone needs to be sure-footed to keep everyone safe – Mimi will get under foot. Mimi should do well with gentle children at least 8 years of age that understand that she is shy and needs time to feel comfortable. She’s very shy and needs to trust you before she will come to you. It does help if you talk to her and slowly move towards her as she usually lays down for a belly rub and will then let you pick her up — but belly rub first.
She does bark when someone (even the people that live in the home) comes to the door. She walks on a leash/harness but needs some practice. Mimi gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home. I can’t say for sure, but I think she would probably do ok with a cat that keeps to its self. Mimi hasn’t played with toys just yet but I’m sure she will in time. She rides well crated to keep her safe in the car. She also sleeps quietly in her crate all night, and I cover it so she feels safe. If I have to leave the house for a few hours, I either gate her in my laundry room or she naps in her crate. She is doing great with her housetraining as long as you take her out on a schedule every few hours. I’m so proud of her as she has had no accidents so far – remember she will need time to adjust to her new atmosphere.
