Ozzy

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Ozzy needs:

  • Active adult home or one with children over 8
  • Adopter committed to weight loss and maintaining healthy weight
  • No apartments – Ozzy can be a little barky
  • Frequent brushings and regular professional grooms
  • Adopter understanding of hip dysplasia and committed to  his overall wellbeing

Ozzy is a 2-yr old, 17 pound male Poodle mix with a sweet and loving personality. He is well-mannered and easy-going. Ozzy is crate trained, leash trained, a good car companion and does great with house training. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing.

When Ozzy came into rescue, he was a few pounds overweight, so he’ll need a dedicated adopter to continue working on weight loss and to maintain a healthy weight. His curly locks will require frequent brushing and regular professional grooming.

Ozzy has a condition called hip dysplasia which is an inherited orthopedic condition. Currently Ozzy walks a little odd in his hind legs and can’t jump up but still enjoys walks and running around. He is on a joint supplement and may need long term medications in the future. Surgery can be done to relieve pain in dogs with hip dysplasia but at this time our veterinarians do not recommend surgery for Ozzy. Continued joint supplements, regular moderate exercise and maintaining a healthy weight will be pivotal for Ozzy. Read more about hip dysplasia here.

If you’re looking for an adorable, sweet-tempered companion, Ozzy could be the perfect match! Ozzy is current on vaccines, heartworm testing, flea/tick/heartworm prevention and microchipped. Adoption fee $175.
