Meet Peep ❤️
Peep is a 3-year-old, 12-pound Chihuahua/Terrier mix who came into rescue from a hoarding situation, raised her puppies, and is now learning what it means to live in a home and be loved.
And she has come so far.
Peep needs a little time to warm up to new people, but she’s learned that treats are the fastest way to make friends—and she is very food motivated. A treat from a new hand helps her curiosity win over her caution. Before long, those same hands become the source of gentle pets, chin scratches, and eventually snuggles.
Once Peep decides you’re safe, you get to meet the dog her foster family adores.
So who is she?
Peep is affectionate, playful, smart, and incredibly resilient. At night, she burrows under the covers to sleep right next to her foster mom. During TV time, she’s just as happy curled in a lap or tucked behind her foster mom’s head on the sofa. She loves being petted and talked to—especially in baby talk.
She also loves playing with her canine foster brother, Huckleberry. Having a confident, playful dog has helped her learn so much about home life. She watches other dogs closely and follows their lead, so a playful canine companion will be important in her forever home.
Peep is doing very well with house training and thrives on routine. She’s a good listener and comes inside when called—even when other dogs decide not to.
She still enjoys chewing, so toys should be provided and tempting items kept out of reach.
Peep also came with her own built-in sound system. Her foster family finds her “commentary” charming, but neighbors may disagree. Because of this, she is not suited for apartment living or homes with shared walls.
What will help Peep thrive
Peep’s ideal family will understand that she may need time to settle in—maybe a couple of days, maybe longer.
Peep doesn’t keep a calendar.
She’s simply watching and learning: Are you kind? Am I safe? Can I trust you?
She’s had to learn those answers before, and each time she’s shown how adaptable and loving she can be.
Peep needs an adult-only home with someone home part of the day, a secure fenced yard, and a playful canine companion. Any cats should be confident and dog-savvy.
Most of all, she needs someone willing to give her a chance.
Because the cautious little dog you meet on day one isn’t the whole story. Once she trusts you, you’ll meet the Peep who seeks affection, plays with her dog friends, comes when called, and burrows under the covers to sleep as close as possible.
She has learned that a strange house can become safe—and a stranger can become her person.
She’s ready to do it again—this time, for good. ❤️
Peep previously had a skin condition that has resolved, and her coat is growing in beautifully.
She is spayed, vaccinated, and on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $175, plus $25 for an Apple AirTag, for a total of $200.
