Adoption Area: East Tennessee
Perri needs:
- Active adult home/Gentle children at least 7 years of age
- Someone home most of the day
- Playful/active fur buddy to help keep me busy
My name is Perri (aka Shorty because of my short legs). I’m a 3-year-old male Yorkie mix. I weigh just under 8 pounds. My fur, which is white/brown, had been shaved short before coming to SBRET probably due to fleas and being matted. My fur has grown in so soft and I have beautiful markings.
I have been in my foster home a little while and my foster mom and the other playful dogs have been working to keep me busy and not get bored. Children would need to be gentle and at least 7 years old and keep their belongings put away or I will probably chew/damage something that I get a hold of. Another playful dog in my forever home would help keep me busy and work off some of my extra energy. My foster mom says cats probably wouldn’t like me much. I love to snuggle but will not jump in your lap – I come wanting to be held but when you go to pick me up I back up. My foster mom is guessing I was not allowed on the furniture in my previous home.
I do need someone home most of the time as I’m still working on my potty skills. My foster mom puts a belly band (male wrap which will come with me) when I roam the house. I’m doing much better on my potty manners and my belly band is almost always dry. As long as you are willing to walk me and spend a little extra time out while I do my business, I do not require a fenced in yard. At night in my foster mom’s room, I sleep quietly in my covered crate as long as I know she’s close by. I don’t like being home without my humans for more than a few hours.
My foster mom has started giving me 25 mg. trazodone about 2 hours before she needs to leave the house and that gives it time to start helping me calm down. I do need to be crated just to make sure I don’t get into anything while you’re gone. She watches me on her camera and that routine has worked really well so far. If my foster mom goes on short errands she just takes me with her. I do great crated on car rides as it keeps me safe and I usually just nap.
I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on my vaccines and preventions. My adoption fee is $175. If you have to kind of home I’m looking for, contact my friends at SBRET.COM and get your application approved.
Love,
Perri
