Piper

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Piper needs:

  • Adult home or one with children over 12 years old
  • If any dogs in the home, they need to be small seniors like Piper
  • No access to flights of stairs
  • Someone home most of the day

Good things come in small packages” is a perfect description of tiny Piper, a 5 pound 9-10 year old female Shih Tzu mix. If you are looking for a sweet, affectionate companion, Piper checks all the boxes. She is happiest cuddled next to you or in your lap. Due to her small size, she will need assistance going up & down steps.

Piper is reliably potty trained if taken out every 3-4 hours, so will need someone home for most of the day. She is very happy sleeping in her cozy, covered crate at night. Piper had some impressive mammary tumors successfully removed upon entering SBRET, as well as losing 8 teeth during her dental. They did get clean margins on the pre-cancerous mammary  tumors, but an owner will need to  keep an eye out for any new lumps as they would need to be removed if they should come up. Since she is now spayed, that lessens the likelihood of that happening.

Piper is very hard of hearing and will need a home that will be mindful of approaching her where she can see you. Also for her safety, she must be leashed when not in a fenced area. Due to her small size, she can easily squeeze through very narrow spaces, so please be aware. She has a sweet disposition and gets along well with other small, senior dogs. Again due to her small size, we do not recommend a home with children under 12 years. Piper loves to eat—and is very vocal when she needs a snack! She eats a combination of dry kibble & soft food.

Piper is current with all immunizations, heartworm/flea/tick prevention, and is microchipped. Piper is a precious girl who is eager to find her forever family. Her adoption fee is $100.
