Hi my name is Sage. I am a 6-7 year old female Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix (maybe!) and I weigh 11.9 pounds. I am a very sweet girl who loves to be near my people. I don’t need to be in your lap, just near by on the couch or laying close by. I love to get pets and belly rubs and give great doggy kisses. I am very friendly and get along well with people and other dogs. I have some anxiety around loud noises, so I do not like to be around toddlers (who can be loud and busy) or vacuum cleaners, etc. I tolerate cats if they stay out of my space. I would like another dog for companionship, but not necessary if you are home most of the day.
When I came to SBRET, my fur was long and matted, so I will need regular brushing and a grooming appointment every 6 weeks. I’m doing well with my housetraining especially if taken out on a regular schedule. I also use pee pads if you need to be out for longer than 3 hours. A secure fenced yard would be great as I love to explore, but not necessary as I also love to go for leash walks. In fact I get excited when you get a leash out and dance in the floor. I have a tendency to pull on the leash, so you will need to be sure footed and have a firm grasp on the leash. I do not tend to be an indoor barker, unless I hear someone at the door. I will bark outside if I hear another dog or see a passing dog or person.
I sleep quietly all night in a kennel in my foster parents’ bedroom. I’m a good eater and respectful of my foster sister’s food bowl. I have been playing with toys and love the squeaky ones. I am not a great car rider, due to anxiety (shaking and panting). I have some staining on my paws due to licking them because of yeast. My foster mom is treating this with special shampoo for yeast and benadryl for the itching. I am doing much better now.
Sage’s vet check found her to be healthy, except needing a dental where she had 5 teeth removed. She is spayed and microchipped, current on vaccines and on heartworm and flea prevention. She is ready to find her forever home, Her adoption fee is $175.
