- Sure footed adult home—I tend to get underfoot
- Someone home part of the day
- If other small dogs in the home, not too rowdy as I don’t like dogs right in my face
Hi, I’m Shep—a sweet, ten-year-old, 10-pound male ShihTzu mix! As you may have noticed, I had to have my eye taken out when I came to rescue due to a previous injury or untreated infection. Since I did not receive the best care before rescue, which meant I did not receive dentals, my teeth became infected and that moved into my bone so I do have some bone loss in my jaw. I can still eat normally, but my foster mom soaks my hard kibble for me so it is nice and soft. I was also born with some wonky back legs, but I get around just fine! I also have a grade 3 heart murmur, not requiring any medication and cannot always be heard.
Even though I had a rough start, I am such a loving boy once I trust you! I immediately bonded with my foster mom. It took a few days to bond with my foster dad but now I follow him everywhere! I love to be laying wherever my family is. I will make a great companion for someone! Since I like to go everywhere with my people, I tend to get underfoot.
When my foster mom has to leave me, she leaves me in a crate. I bark in the crate because I just miss her so bad! My foster mom thinks I would probably be fine not being crated. At night, I sleep in bed with my foster mom. I just sleep quietly the whole night because I’m such a good boy!
I get along just fine with the other dogs in the house. I probably prefer not to have someone super playful in my face though!
I am scared of thunderstorms, my only flaw!! I like to try to hide, so my foster mom and I go sit in an interior room and I’m ok if I don’t hear the thunder.
I am doing great with my house training, but that doesn’t mean I won’t have an accident while adjusting to my forever home.
I am neutered, up to date on vaccinations, on flea/heartworm preventatives, and had a dental cleaning. My adoption fee is $100.
