Simba

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Simba needs:

  • Someone familiar with the Pekingese breed
  • Adult home with no children
  • Someone willing to be patient with Simba’s trust issues

Meet Simba, a royal 18 pound male Pekingese, approximately 12 years old. Surrendered to a shelter with an unknown past, it’s clear that Simba ruled the roost before. True to his breed, Simba is independent, opinionated, yet deeply loyal once trust is earned. A previous Pekingese owner, someone familiar with this breed, is recommended.

Simba is doing great with house training but may need a belly band until he adjusts to a new schedule. He walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. Simba will do fine in a crate, unless he doesn’t want to be in there, then he will bark until he gets his way. He will require regular professional grooming and will need medications such as Trazodone for grooms, veterinary visits and boarding. Simba enjoys companionship but on his own terms—he prefers a quiet home where he can relax, be adored, and snuggle next to you on the couch. He does well with other dogs who respect his space but isn’t a fan of high-energy pups jumping all over him.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, dignified senior companion who knows exactly what he wants, Simba is ready to rule your heart and home. Simba is up to date on vaccines, heartworm test, flea/tick/heartworm preventive and recently had a dental to remove several diseased teeth. Adoption fee $100.
