In Loving Memory

6/21/05 update!

NO LONG-DISTANCE ADOPTIONS – please check our adoption area map before completing an application or inquiring about Buddy.

Hi my name is Buddy I am a 16 lb. 4yr. old male Yorkie mix. I was found living outside! I had some growths in my ears and a horrible ear infection. My foster mom said that I was the worst smelling dog the had ever seen, but after a few baths I feel and smell great!

I like being inside with a nice soft bed and lots of love. I like other dogs OK but would also do fine as an only dog. I have met a cat once and had no interest in it. I am working on my housetraining, as long as you take me out I’ll go potty.

If you’re interested in adopting a cute little guy like me, contact my new best friends at SBRET!

6/21/05 update: It is with much sadness that we have to report that our sweet little boy, Buddy, had to be sent on to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday (6/20/05). He suddenly became ill and listless. His foster mom immediately took him to our vet, who diagnosed Buddy with advanced stomach cancer. The only humane choice was to end Buddy’s suffering with love and compassion. Although we are all extremely saddened by this sudden and unexpected loss, we are trying to comfort ourselves with the knowledge that we made his last months the best he had ever known. He was abandoned at a house in which he lived and slept on a cat pan, and had extremely painful ear tumors. We immediately had these removed, and treated him with much needed antibiotics. Once he had recovered from this surgery, he was truly a different boy – one who loved life and especially loved a good treat! We will try to remember him as the happy, loving boy that we allowed him to become. Thank you, Buddy, for allowing us to spend your last months with you. It was, indeed, a joy and privilege to know you. It helps us remember how, with a little love and kindness, animals can seem to forgive humans of the most horrible acts. If humans were capable of such forgiveness, it would indeed be a peaceful place here on Earth. Goodbye, little guy, we will miss you and hold your memory in our hearts forever.
