In Loving Memory

We had to say goodbye today (12/19/16) to JPEG who had been in forever foster care for the past 14 months. We answered a plea from a rural shelter about a large group of dogs that had been dumped in a church parking lot. One of the SBRET volunteers who went along to transport the dogs we were bringing back picked up JPEG and said I’m not leaving without him. Little did we know that he was a sick boy–we knew he was a senior but not that he was in the beginning stages of kidney failure. His prognosis was not great and the vets felt like he might have a very few months at most but what he had was almost a one and a half years of being loved and cared for. So today we celebrate the fact that JPEG got a second chance and only new love and care for the past 14 months and we celebrate SBRET foster moms and dads who say yes to seniors and yes to sick dogs and yes to shy dogs and open up their homes and hearts to them. JPEG you were a handsome boy who was much, much loved. Give your senior dog an extra cuddle today.
