Sandy

In Loving Memory

Sandy was one of our first rescues. In fact, she came into the program when we were named “Small Breed and Retriever Rescue.” As you can see, Sandy was a quite beautiful Golden Retriever and we rescued her from an area shelter. Lucky for Sandy this shelter realized how special Sandy was and cared enough to keep her for three months. In a shelter environment, where they are only required to keep a dog for 72 hours, it is truly unusual for an animal to be kept that long. We will never understand how a dog as beautiful as Sandy was able to sit in a shelter for three months without someone adopting her.

Sadly, we recently received notice from Sandy’s family that Sandy bolted from their home and was tragically hit by a car in December 2002. The family is heartbroken. Our prayers go out to Sandy’s family. We understand the pain that comes with losing such a close family member. We all know that our pets do become part of our family and the pain is real – and can be difficult to bear. We hope that by providing this tribute to Sandy on our webpage we can provide her family some comfort during this difficult period. Sandy, you may be gone from this Earth, but you are definitely NOT forgotten. Love always – your friends at SBRET.
