About Us
Small Breed Rescue of East Tennessee, Inc. (SBRET), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to finding forever homes for displaced or abandoned small breed dogs. We are also dedicated to educating the public about pet overpopulation, the benefits of spaying/neutering, and the horrors of puppy mills.
Where We Are
All of our available dogs live with foster families in the Knoxville, TN, area. We do not have a central facility, but do have adoption events throughout the year. If you are interested in meeting one of our available pups, please see the Events page or follow us on Facebook @SmallBreedRescue for up-to-date location information. Because we do not bring every available dog to every event, be sure to check with us if you would like to meet a particular pup. See our Contact Us page for contact details.
What We Do
SBRET takes in abused, neglected, ill, unwanted, and injured small breed dogs and places them in foster homes for rehabilitation. SBRET pays for all veterinary costs associated with caring for each dog while it is in foster care including spay/neuter, immunizations, dentals, microchipping, any necessary surgeries, and heartworm/flea prevention. Our wonderful foster families provide shelter, food, toys, and lots of love and nurture for each dog.
Our adoption process tries to ensure that our dogs are placed in appropriate and loving homes, but should a violation of the contract occur between SBRET and the adoptive family, SBRET reserves the right to take the dog back into its care.
We are 100% committed to the health and safety of all of our dogs and have an adoption process that includes an online adoption application, veterinary reference check, and home visit. For more information, please see our Adoption Process page.
