<!– –> Hi everyone! My name is Aslan. I bet you are wondering how I got this name! I was named after the great lion in The Chronicles of Narnia (think “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”). Apparently, I had been neglected for quite some time and when I was brought into the vet clinic, I was severely matted. Thankfully, I was given awesome care at the vet’s office and I’m doing wonderful. I’ll talk more about my severe matting a bit later. I want to tell you that I am a wonderful little guy! I am a male, Poodle mix and I am between 1 – 2 years old. I am very happy, I’m outgoing, and I’m well adjusted. I currently have 2 sisters in my foster home (a medium/tall dog and a Pug). I get along very well with them. I enjoy playing and I also enjoy my rest time. What I am trying to say is that I can run around with the best of them and then I like to take a break and just rest quietly in my bed. My foster Mom says that I sleep great at night in a crate, all night without a peep, and then I wake when the family wakes in the morning. I eat well, I drink well, I sleep well. I am working on house training. Right now, I wear a belly band while I’m in the house and it is dry most of the time! When my foster Mom says, “Let’s go out and go potty”, I run to the door with my 2 sisters and I know what I am expected to do out there. And, then I get my treat! Now, more about the severe matting. I had hair that was so long that I looked like a wild man! You could barely see my face it was so bad. To make it through whatever I went through before I was rescued, they said I must be really strong and so I was named Aslan. The matted hair around my front paws damaged one of my paws. The tendons were severed in my left, front paw. I limp a bit, sometimes I walk around with my paw up, other times I put it down as kind of a brace, but it is limp and doesn’t function like a normal paw. The vet thinks it is likely permanent damage. With that said, I want you to know that I can do just about anything that other dogs can do! I run with my 3 good functioning legs, I can stand on my hind two feet and ask you to pet me, I can balance fine, I don’t want sympathy – I want to play and be loved for the great guy that I am. My foster Mom thinks I would do best in a home with a little bit of activity, maybe another dog or two, or an older child or two. I like a bit of activity but I also sit calmly and watch what is going on! I don’t know how I do with cats. I would like a fenced in yard, it doesn’t have to be a big yard. I don’t ask for much but I give a lot of love! My adoption fee is $175. |
