Casey

Casey is a 7-year old female Maltese who came into foster care with SBRET from an area shelter in early July. It was feared that she may
have a thyroid issue or endocrine disorder due to her fur being very thin and being overweight at 11 pounds. We were happy when
her blood work came back and it was all normal! She is just a chunky little girl who likes to eat and was not being fed or cared for properly.
With being on a restricted food intake and beginning to take short walks, Casey has lost about 1/2 pound, and her fur is beginning to thicken up.
Life is looking up!

Casey has been a joy to have in foster care. She has a very sweet disposition and loves to cuddle and give doggy kisses.
She gets along well with other dogs and people. She tends to be shy with strangers, but warms up quickly. She does well around children,
but she probably shouldn’t be placed in a home with children under 5 due to her small size.

Casey’s housetraining is going well. She potties outside, but will also use pee pads. It would be best for her to have a fenced-in yard.
Currently she does not walk well on a leash, although her foster mom has been working on this since she needs to get some weight off.
She sleeps well in a kennel beside her foster mom’s bed at night.

Casey is spayed and heartworm negative. She is up to date on all her vaccines, microchipped, and has had a dental.
Her new family will need to continue to keep her on a restricted diet and give her some exercise to get the remaining excess weight off.
Casey’s adoption fee is $175.
