Adoption Area: East Tennessee
Larkin needs:
- Adult home or one with children over 10
- Someone home part of the day to continue reinforcing my potty manners
- No close neighbors as I bark if I’m left alone
Hello, my name is Larkin. I am 10 years young, a male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix and weigh just under 6 lbs. My foster Mom is trying to put a little weight on me. I certainly don’t mind the extra food and treats. I eat dry kibble just fine even though I am missing many teeth. I am a sweet boy who is a little bashful and somewhat nosey. And have we talked about my adorable ears — all the better to hear you with!!
I am now doing well with my potty training and follow my foster buddies out the door. Remember though when I make a transition to a new home, I may have some accidents until I get your routine down just right. I would enjoy a fenced yard or patio because I do like the sunshine. I came in to foster with a group of 3 dogs surrendered to the shelter because my previous owner went into a senior facility. I’m fine without other dog companions but I would also enjoy another calm, senior dog in my forever home. I love to cuddle up with the dogs in my foster home. There are cats in my foster home and I don’t pay any attention to them. Since I am so small, an adult home or children over 10 would probably be the best and safest for me.
I would really love a homebody to hang with. A walk or two, maybe a car ride sometimes. I am happiest with my person. I’m vocal when I’m left alone so I wouldn’t be a good choice if you have close neighbors like in an apartment or townhouse.
I prefer to sleep and cuddle in the bed with my foster siblings and foster mom. I am not fond of a crate. I walk well on a leash and I do great with car rides. I am up to date on all vaccines, heartworm/flea prevention, dental cleaning, neutered, microchipped, etc. For more info on Larkin, contact SBRET.com. My adoption fee is $100.
