My name is Layla. I am a 4 to 5-year-old, 5-pound female loving, sweet and adorable Chihuahua mix. I came to rescue because my family was no longer able to care for me.
I’m looking for a forever home where I would get a lot of attention. I follow my humans wherever they go so keep an eye out for me. I really enjoy playing with toys, and sometimes the other dogs in my foster home get in my way.
Sometimes I growl at the other dogs when they get too close to me or when I am being held by my person. I do respond to a verbal correction.
I walk well on a leash – my foster home has a fenced yard but I have to be kept on a leash.
I’m so small my foster mom thinks I might try to squeeze thru the smallest opening.
I will sleep in a crate at night and if you need to run errands I can stay in a crate for short periods of time during the day.
After I whine for a little while and you ignore me – I know it’s hard for you to ignore me
because, like I said in the beginning, I am just so sweet and adorable – I sleep all night in my crate burrowed under my blanket. In my forever home I would probably really love a chance to sleep with my humans!
I’m working on my house training and so far I’m doing really well as long as someone is home part of the day to take me outside.
I will use a pee pad if you don’t get me out in time.
My bark gets kind of loud at times so I probably would not do well in an apartment.
I would do best in an adult home or one with children over 8 years old.
I am up to date on my flea/heartworm preventative and my vaccines. I have a history of a severe reaction to a vaccine but my previous owners were not sure whether it was a Rabies or Distemper/Parvo vaccine so I need to be pretreated (Benadryl) before I get any kind of vaccine and stay at the vet office for about half an hour after the injection to watch for a reaction. I did just fine with my vaccines when I came to rescue and was pre-treated with Benadryl first.
