Lettie needs:
- An adult home (need to be sure-footed)
- Someone home during the day
- No apartments and no steps or able to carry me up and down
- No steps or able to carry me up and down
Hey guys, my name is Lettie. I am a tiny 4.9-pound, 10 to 12-year-old female Chihuahua. Finding myself at a rural shelter without a lot of hope for adoption was awfully scary. Lucky for me there was somebody watching out who got in touch with SBRET and they came in and scooped me up! I think they knew that the folks at SBRET have a soft spot for seniors!
I am a pretty healthy little girl but do have a few issues my foster mom wants to tell you about:
Lettie has some hair loss probably due to fleas and poor nutrition and just lack of basic care, but her coat is looking better and better every day! She has a heart murmur that does not cause her any issues or require medication but will need to be monitored by your vet. Lettie walks a bit wonky as she does not seem to have good communication with placement of her legs but she gets around just fine and is in no pain. She loves wandering around the fenced yard checking things out. She should not have access to steps but she is so tiny it is very easy to carry her up and down. She does not hear very well and sleeps very soundly!
Now I am taking this story back over!! I am doing well with my housetraining but my foster mom takes me out about every 2-3 hours. I do my business very quickly when you take me outside. I love to be right where you are and have a tendency to get underfoot. I get along with the other small dogs in my foster home — I don’t play with them but do hang out with them. I would not mind having a senior small dog buddy but it is not necessary. I am not a big fan of a crate for sleeping when the door is closed — open the door and I like to hang out in it! I do travel in the car ok in a crate. At night I sleep in my cozy bed usually in the kitchen.
I can be a little vocal sometimes when I can’t see you but that is getting much better too! So right now an apartment would not be great.
Overall I am just a sweet, tiny little companion looking for someone who is home a lot and wants a little side kick!! Remember if you are not sure footed I am not the little dog for you as I could definitely trip you up! That could be bad for both of us!
I am spayed, am current on vaccines and preventatives, had a dental where I lost many teeth, and had an X-ray to make sure my heart looked okay and to make sure my back was not causing my wonky walking. My adoption fee is $100.
