Hi Everyone. My name is Patches. I am a sweet, 8.4-pound Maltese mix girl who loves people. The vet thinks I am around 10 years old and I came to my foster mom from a shelter. When she brought me home, I had mammary tumors and underwent two surgeries to remove them all. And they were all benign! I was also spayed and had a dental cleaning and some teeth removed, but I have no trouble eating my yummy food. It has been a hard month with the stitches and the dreaded cone, but I am all well and ready to find my forever home. I am currently up to date on immunizations, and heartworm and flea and tick prevention and don’t need any other medications.
At my foster home, I am very laid back and love to be close to my person. I like to sit with her on the sofa and nap while she watches TV, and will let her know when I want to go out by standing up and whining or going to the door. I have had a few accidents when my foster mom didn’t get the message in time, but my progress is great. When my foster mom has to go out, I stay in the crate. I don’t love it, but I usually just curl up and take a nap. Foster mom says I am a very cooperative girl and easy to guide on the leash when we walk. I am definitely not a lazy girl, though, and like zipping around the neighborhood and sniffing everything. During the height of the pollen season, I seemed to have trouble with sneezing and coughing, but this isn’t a problem any more.
At night, I sleep in my bed right beside my foster mom’s bed, but I would also like to be in the big bed sometime. I don’t bark much at all and am a little shy until I see that you are friendly. I don’t have any problem riding in the car with my carrier. We haven’t met any cats on my walks but I am interested in the dogs we meet but not overly friendly. I’m not very interested in toys or playing, and could be happy in a home where I am the only dog. My adoption fee is $100.
