Hello peoples,
My name is Sweet Polly (like Sweet Polly Purebred, Underdog’s girlfriend) and I am an 8 month old, 2.8 pound female
Chihuahua. My foster momma thought this was a good name for me because I came into rescue as a bit of an underdog.
You see, my previous home had small children in it and one of them broke me-well my leg anyways. It was probably
an accident, but I was in such horrible pain. My family didn’t really want me anymore even before my injury and
were already trying to sell me. When I had my accident they wanted the vet to put me to sleep because fixing a
broken leg is very expensive. Fortunately for me the vet refused and offered the option of surrendering me to SBRET.
After surgery and six weeks of healing and physical therapy I am now ready to look for my forever home. My foster
momma says that although my story has a sad beginning I am assured a happy ending with SBRET. So with all that
background out of the way, I guess I should tell you a little about myself. My foster family says I am the
sweetest little girl ever. Since I am only about 8 months old, I am still a puppy with a few things to learn. I
am doing well on housetraining. If you take me out every few hours I will go outside. I use potty pads during
the night. Every now and then I will have an accident so my foster family doesn’t allow me on the carpet unless
I am supervised. My foster momma and dad say I will get better about this because I get praise or treats when
I do it right but not when I make a mistake.
I get along well with my foster family’s small Chihuahua. And I don’t react to cats much either way so I would
probably be okay with a feline fursib. Because I am so petite I cannot go into a home with large dogs or really
young human children. (I couldn’t go through another experience like that!) I am still learning to walk properly
on a leash. I do better when my foster fursib is walking with me.
I am spayed, microchipped, with all vaccinations completed and up-to-date on flea, tick and heartworm preventatives.
I would love to have a home with someone who is home part of the day and that has time to continue to work with me
on my training. Oh, by the way, my leg is completely healed and good as new so I have no problems with running and
playing like the puppy I am! My adoption fee is $175.
