Hey everyone, this is Ralphie! Ralphie is an adorable 13-week-old male Chihuahua mix puppy weighing only 2.4 lbs. He is a sweet boy with a lot of energy! He would love to have a small dog playmate, but he would be fine as an only dog. He will need someone home during the day to continue his potty training. Ralphie is extremely small so his new owner will have to take care to know where he is when he’s on the ground so that he doesn’t get stepped on or hurt. He can’t be left alone on a couch, chair, or bed as a fall might injure him. And remember, these little dogs can have a lifespan of 15+ years, so he needs someone that can commit to and care for him long-term. Ralphie is not big enough to be neutered yet, but as a condition of his adoption he will have to be brought to one of our SBRET vets when they determine it is safe to neuter him.
Ralphie, like many small dogs, does have luxating patellas, and they may improve as he gets older, or that may be something an owner has to address. And as many Chihuahuas do, he has an open fontanelle, which means he has a little spot on his head that will be a forever soft spot.
If you think Ralphie would be a good fit for you, contact SBRET.com to fill out an application. He is up to date on his puppy vaccines and current on heartworm and flea meds. His adoption fee is $175.
